CULTURAL AGENCY = CULTURE IS AGENCY.

at its core, a cultural agency is an organization, community or collective that is built around the belief that if you combine creative talent and humanity, you can help companies to make their products, services and brands relevant to the life of the people.

This, done through a specific cultural lens with strategies tailored towards niche audiences.

 

MEET OUR FOUNDER

Renee Harrison is a Jamaican born - New Jersey raised and Los Angeles based actor and multi-hyphenate artist. A natural storyteller at heart, Renee marries her love for storytelling with her passion for empowering underserved narratives through intentional, authentic and creative mediums.

Coming from years of training in the theatre, it’s no surprise that the stage holds a special place in her heart. Renee the founder and creative producer of Black Girls Do Theater, or BGDT for short. Black Girls Do Theater, founded in 2017, is a cultural agency creating community spaces for Black femme-identifying theater artists.

In the years since its inception, she has collaborated with some of NYC’s largest cultural institutions, like New York Theatre Workshop, Signature Theatre, MCC Theate and others, to bring emerging artists to the theater.

  • Growth as a community is essential to our content and brand. We develop content that encourages an expansion of perspective.

  • We celebrate the evolving world of theater, and seek to amplify the strides being made by members of the arts ecosystem. We are ambitious and open to change end evolution.

  • Authenticity is our foundation and we e are genuine to our brand, mission, and values. Everything we do has purpose.
